Santa Monica Beach
Just off the Pacific Coast Highway sits Santa Monica Beach, a 3.5 mile stretch of glistening sand and mild surf. This spot is perfect for families, couples, or the novice surfer looking to catch his or her first wave. You'll know you've made it when you see the iconic Ferris wheel and swirling rides of Santa Monica Pier. Friendly lifeguards, scenic picnic areas, clean public restrooms and a playground for the little ones make this one of the area's most popular attractions.
The shoreline of Malibu is so well-known it has inspired many a movie and song. It's no wonder the crème de la crème call this beautiful area home. This affluent city sits on a 21-mile strip of the rugged California coastline. In essence, the entire southern edge of the city is one long beach. Characterized by warm, sandy beaches, prime surfing, and some of the most gorgeous views in California, the beaches of Malibu are a must-visit California attraction.
Our suggestion: hit all three beaches in one day. Visit Santa Monica Beach first thing in the morning, then drive along the picturesque Pacific Coast Highway to venture into Malibu. Get back on the highway and finish off the evening enjoying one more dip in the Pacific and a dizzying ride aboard the Santa Monica Pier Ferris wheel.
